I'm Elly, a freelance photographer based in the city of Leeds. I trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, where I graduated in 2019 and later served as an apprentice with Motionhouse Dance company. Life took an unexpected turn when a combination of a dance injury and the pandemic nudged me to channel my passion for photography.
As a dance photographer, I believe in the transformative power of photos to boost dancers' confidence. I really enjoy creating a safe and supportive space, allowing dancers to freely express themselves. I strive to capture not just the movements but also the individuality and strength of each dancer.
Having navigated the dance world myself, I understand the struggles with self-image and confidence during training. It's a journey I've lived. The desire for a dance photoshoot but hesitating to take the plunge because of lack of confidence or not feeling good enough. This experience has fuelled my commitment to being a photographer for dance artists, dedicated to cultivating an environment where you feel free to open up.
Throughout our photoshoot, I take on the roles of director and supporter, offering guidance and encouragement. My mission is simple: to authentically capture your unique movement as a dancer, providing you with a collection of photos that will make you feel nothing short of amazing when you look back at them. Let's celebrate your confidence and uniqueness through the lens! 📸✨
